I've been very lucky to have as much support from many of you as I've had over the years.  I really wanted to say thank you and just give something away so I've chosen the most viewed necklace from my shop.

from start to finish, a flying curdle worm

A couple years ago I made a few curdle worms from polymer clay but only listed two of them. The third sat half finished and unseen by most.
I loved the idea for it but I couldn't seem to execute it the way I wanted to and still keep it at a low enough purchase price. I ended up having to set the last and most unusual worm down and walk away from it. The thing is, this idea wouldn't go away and still shows itself allover little scraps of paper, to-do lists, receipts, unopened junk mail and bank statements. My place has become infested with little flying curdle worms!
After two years I've decided to re-visit this idea, mostly because of my boyfriend, only this time price won't be a factor. I started fresh and really took my time and treated it like a personal project. Not worrying about deadlines or how to keep costs down makes all the difference. This curdle worm was going to be weird and pointy

I baked and re-baked the base of this polymer clay figurine a total of 5 times before I could paint it. Once the paint dried I text messaged this shot around to get some feedback

After it was glazed I still had to take some pictures. My camera and lightbox don't always work well together. It took some time to edit these but photoshop made it work... and tada!

Beat Black is a handmade jewelry (and other stuff) business created by myself, Sarah Norton, and run out of my apartment in downtown Toronto.

I've worked with a variety of different mediums over the years but during these last few its been all about polymer clay. I mostly try to use this blog to showcase the craft in a 'behind the scenes' kind of way. I also like to show off other artists original work that inspires as well as listing any giveaways and discounts.
