Fan Expo 2010

It's been a week since Fan Expo came to an end and I'm still wired. I find myself smiling at strangers on the street like I would smile at people from my table and treating each leisure clay session as "hurry up and finish" task. I'm stuck in expo mode.

The show was great and I've even signed up again for next years with a better idea of what to bring in 2011. My table was a little more complete looking this time around but man what a pain lugging those displays around!

The part I loved most had to be the people. Everyone there was so extremely kind. The energy some of them came with is likely what I'm still carrying with me a week later so if any of you are reading this then thank you!! your comments and support go SO much further than you can even imagine.

I got to sit between a stempunk author and an illustrator of really cool looking sketchy goth styled art. I also got to meet some new vendors as well as see a few of the familiar ones. I now own these two prints from Monika of faebylart

Her and her husband were both crazy nice (and good looking to boot). I even met briefly with monster kookies, another polymer clayist of oddities and even super briefer with fashion whore. I got a little over excited when I saw this

bright and pretty gal wearing my mutant cupcake... well her mutant cupcake. If you own a pink brain cameo and have a super cool grandma I wish I got your pic too <3

Now that Fan Expo is all over I'm currently getting ready for "Dia De Los Muertos Festival of the Arts" (and burlesque show). I painted my first sugar skull last night and can't wait to make more.

Beat Black is a handmade jewelry (and other stuff) business created by myself, Sarah Norton, and run out of my apartment in downtown Toronto.

I've worked with a variety of different mediums over the years but during these last few its been all about polymer clay. I mostly try to use this blog to showcase the craft in a 'behind the scenes' kind of way. I also like to show off other artists original work that inspires as well as listing any giveaways and discounts.
